Looking for a reliable, dual-purpose quail? Northwest Quail Farm’s unique line of Jumbo Brown Coturnix Quail offers the perfect balance of meat production and egg-laying performance. Our birds have been selectively bred in-house for size, conformation, egg production, and a calm, non-aggressive temperament, making them an excellent choice for both high-quality meat and larger eggs.
Our farm and hatchery are NPIP Certified and AI/PT Clean (Pullorum-Typhoid and Avian Influenza), so you can purchase with confidence knowing your birds and eggs come from a healthy, disease-monitored flock. We follow strict biosecurity protocols and maintain a clean, controlled environment to deliver strong, reliable genetics and consistent results—whether you're raising for eggs, meat, or breeding.
Our breeding program is built around one goal—producing consistently superior birds. Every quail in our flock is carefully selected for calm temperament, strong health, hardiness, and top-tier productivity.
Using a proven selective breeding program and clan mating system, we maintain excellent genetic diversity while continuously improving performance across every generation.
Our Jumbo Brown Coturnix Quail average 13–16 oz at maturity—nearly twice the size of standard Coturnix—making them ideal for both meat production and large, consistent egg yields.
To maximize results, our breeders are paired at an optimized 4 hens to 1 rooster ratio, and fertility is monitored weekly to ensure 92%+ fertility rates—giving you the best possible hatch success and flock performance.
We take every step to ensure your hatching eggs arrive in excellent condition. All orders are shipped via Insured USPS Priority Mail for fast, reliable delivery.
Each egg is individually protected using custom foam shippers, with additional protective layers between inserts, then securely boxed to minimize movement and reduce the risk of damage during transit.
While most shipments arrive quickly and intact, factors like postal delays or rough handling can occasionally occur and are outside our control. To give you added confidence, we include extra hatching eggs at no additional cost to help offset any potential losses during shipping.
Order with confidence knowing your eggs are packed with care and backed by a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Shipping:
All egg orders are shipped via USPS Priority Mail within 2–5 business days. Once shipped, delivery typically arrives in 1–3 business days. You’ll receive a tracking number as soon as your order is on its way so you can follow it every step of the journey. Please note: Shipping times may be extended during high demand, holidays, or weekends, and for any back-ordered items.
Returns & Damage Policy:
Due to the fragile and perishable nature of eggs, we do not accept returns, exchanges, or refunds on shipped orders.
However, all shipments are fully insured. If your order arrives damaged:
- Contact us immediately upon delivery
- Provide photos of the damaged package/items
- We will assist you in filing a USPS insurance claim
When you receive your hatching eggs, handle them carefully and open the box gently. Inspect each egg for cracks or damage—do not incubate damaged eggs.
Before Incubation:
- Let eggs rest for 12-24 hours, pointed side down, at room temperature before incubating. This is especially important in cold weather.
- Do not wash your eggs—this can remove their natural protective coating.
- Turn on your incubator and allow the temperature to stabilize at 99.5°F with 35-45% humidity while the eggs are resting.
Incubation Process:
- After 12-24 hours, place eggs in the incubator and turn them at least 4 times per day.
- Incubate for 14 days, checking temperature and humidity daily.
- On day 15, move eggs into lockdown:
- Around day 16-18, chicks will begin hatching. Wait 24-36 hours before removing chicks to prevent shrink-wrapping the remaining eggs.
Following these steps will maximize your hatch rate and chick health.
To ensure a smooth transition for your Jumbo Coturnix quail chicks, set up the brooder at least a day before they hatch. This allows you to stabilize the temperature and ensure everything is ready.
1. Temperature & Heat Management
- Maintain a temperature range of 85°F in the coldest area and 100°F in the warmest section to allow chicks to self-regulate their comfort.
- Reduce the temperature by 5°F per week until chicks are fully feathered (around 3-4 weeks old).
- Use a heat plate (preferred) or a heat lamp positioned to create a warm and cool zone.
2. Food & Water Placement
- Food: Place near the heat source for easy access.
- Water: Keep at room temperature or slightly warmer, positioned away from the heat source to prevent overheating.
- Use shallow water dishes with marbles or pebbles to prevent drowning.
3. Feeding Guide
- First 6 weeks: Provide 28-30% protein game bird starter crumbles to support rapid growth.
- First 2 weeks: Grind the starter crumbles into finer pieces to help small chicks eat more easily.
- After 7 weeks: Transition to 16-22% layer feed or mix half starter crumble and half layer feed for a balanced diet.
By following these guidelines, your quail chicks will have a strong, healthy start with the proper nutrition and environment for growth. Let me know if you need any refinements! 😊
